Cookie policy
Last updated 3 November 2026
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. We use only the few the site needs to work: to keep you signed in, to let visitors into a Legacy page, and to take payments safely. We don't use analytics, advertising or social media cookies, and we don't track you across other websites.
1. Cookies we set
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token (__Secure- on our live site) | Keeps you signed in, or keeps a will or LPA you started without an account linked to your browser. It's a random token that means nothing outside our service. | 30 days, renewed while you use the site; removed when you sign out |
| legacy_<page name> | Lets a visitor who entered a Legacy page's password, or opened a link they were sent, keep viewing that page. It works only on that page. | 12 hours, or until the visitor leaves the page |
2. Payment cookies
When you reach a payment page, Stripe, our payment provider, loads its secure card form. Stripe sets its own cookies (such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) to prevent fraud and keep payments secure. They're needed to take your payment; they aren't used for advertising. See Stripe's cookie policy for details.
If you use Apple Pay, Google Pay or Stripe's Link to pay, that service's own terms and privacy policy apply too.
3. Other storage in your browser
While you answer our short questions before starting a will or LPA, your yes or no answers are kept in your browser's local storage, so you don't lose your place if the page reloads. Nothing you type is kept there, and the answers are cleared once you've finished.
4. Your choices
Because these cookies are strictly necessary, the law doesn't require us to ask before using them, and the site can't work properly without them: if you block them, you won't be able to sign in, save a will or pay.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser's settings. All About Cookies explains how for each browser.
If we ever want to use other cookies, such as to measure how the site is used, we'll ask you first and update this page. For how we use personal information more generally, see our privacy policy.
